EXECUTIVE MAYOR:

Executive Mayor of Ehlanzeni District Municipality Cllr. J Sidell was born in Mbombela at Kabokweni. She did her primary education at Victory Park Primary School. She then proceeded to Middleburg Combined School where she completed her secondary education.  Her tertiary qualifications include among others a diploma in Advanced Municipal Governance from University of Johannesburg, a Project Management course from Wits University as well as an Executive Leadership programme from the University of Pretoria  She has extensive experience as an Administrator and Technocrat. She worked for the Department of Health and Social Development as well as the Department of Human Settlement as an Assistant Director and eventually Acting Director responsible for the Human Settlement  Ms Sidell is a seasoned politician with vast experience in serving the people. She served in a number of ANC structures as well as Union structures. She is currently the Regional Secretary of Ehlanzeni ANC Women’s League.  Her role in second term Local Government started in 2000 where she was elected as a PR Councillor both in Mbombela Local Municipality and Ehlanzeni District Municipality. Eventually she was elected as a speaker of Mbombela Local Municipality from 2011 - 2016.  Deservedly so she was then elected to the position of Executive Mayor of Ehlanzeni District Municipality

Department Role, A primary role of the corporate services department is to provide support and administration services to the municipality as a whole. The areas in which the department provides assistance and support include; (1) Administration and policy formulation (2) Communications, marketing and events (3) Human resources,

Department Role, A primary role of the department is to create an environment for communities to participate in the mainstream economy, the department, together with social partners, formulated objectives to help achieve all their goals


DISASTER MANAGEMENT & PUBLIC SAFETY


Department Role,  primary responsible for disaster management within its area of jurisdiction is to fulfil its needs to adhere to the National Disaster Management framework, Provincial Disaster Management framework and the Disaster Management Act.

Department Role,  primary role of FINANCE is the responsibility for the procurement of all goods and services of the district municipality in a transparent, effective and efficient way

Municipal Manager’s Role, As head of administration the municipal manager of a municipality is, subject to the policy directions of the municipal council, responsible and accountable for (a) The formation and development of an economical effective, efficient and accountable administration (b) The management of the municipality’s administration in

accordance with the Local Government Municipal Systems Act of 2000 and other legislation applicable to the municipality.
